Zdenek Kovarik
Zdenek Kovarik a founder of KXG Hospitality established his company in early 2020 after being in the hospitality industry for more than two decades. He started his hospitality career as a receptionist in a hotel near the Piccadilly Circus in London in 1999. Since then he has held several operational positions but the majority of his time he spent in the financial department and sales and marketing department.
In Orea Hotels & Resorts he has held as General Manager in Orea Hotel Voroněž, Orea Hotel Pyramida and led a cluster setting of Orea SPA hotels in Marianske Lázně. In 2017, he became the General Manager of the Holiday Inn Prague Congress Centre. This wasn’t just a ‘business as usual’ management position as the hotel required refurbishment and performance optimisation. Zdenek planned and executed the renovation of 254 guest rooms, implemented a new food and beverage concept, and achieved a significant revenue uplift by focusing on guest satisfaction.
Not only in the Czech Republic has Zdenek gained his experience and expertise. He has spent over three years in the Balkan region with Kempinski in Bulgaria and Radisson Blu in Croatia. The Kempinski Grand Arena Bansko was the main hotel for hosting Audi FIS Ski World Cup in 2009, therefore the hotel to be with the luxurious best reputation in the region.
With Radisson Zdenek has led sales and marketing activity for the opening of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Split and then after building sales and marketing strategy for Radisson Blu Resort in Dubrovnik (Orašac) in Croatia. Further Zdenek has solid experience working with IHG (Intercontinental Hotel Group), as Director of Sales and Marketing working for Crowne Plaza Prague (International Hotel today). Early in his career, he spent over three years with Corinthia Hotels in Prague.
The main entrepreneur role he holds with ORCO Property Group serving for Mamaison Hotels & Residences brand as Business Development Director operating 11 properties in six destinations and five countries. In this role, he has learned the basic principles of Hospitality Asset Management led by experienced professionals in the hospitality industry from the London-based company Vision Hotel Management. The main goal was the reorganization of Mamaison Hotels and Residences at its core, building up a centralized sales and marketing structure and generating revenue delivery for individual properties. However, at the same time keeping independence and decision-making power within each individual general manager of Mamaison properties. In 2014 Mamaison Hotels & Residences was taken over by CPI Hotels.
Under his leadership, KXG Hospitality has lately overseen a couple of successful projects, like opening and managing Hotel CUBE in Prague, a four-star hotel with 71 rooms. They also managed Escala Hotel & Suites, a 50-units aparthotel near Budapest city centre. However, their main project was opening of The Julius Prague residence in Spring 2022, offering 168 luxury aparthotel units with full dining services.
With his experience and educational qualifications, Zdenek has the skills to identify new business opportunities and develop business plans designed to maximize revenues. A strategic thinker with strong analytical skills oriented towards results, he is always open to new challenges.
Zdenek is married to Lidija and has together two daughters, Anna and Emily. Zdenek is an active person playing regularly ice hockey and tennis. As his main hobby still, he considers sailing cruising the Baltic Sea or around Scotland islands and peninsulas. In the Spring of 2018, he won with his crew the May Regatta in Croatia. His dream is to sail across the Atlantic Ocean.
